David holds an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from NYU Steinhardt, a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Taylor University. He is also a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, Z-Health R-Phase Movement Re-Education Specialist, Z-Health I-Phase Movement Integration Specialist, and Singing AthleteTM L3 Certified Teacher. David has been a musical theatre geek since sophomore year of high school when he became obsessed with The Phantom of the Opera. In NYC, David has worked on numerous Readings & Workshops of new musicals, including the Gershwin’s Funny Face with Michael Mayer, and Dragula at The Chain Theatre. He recently sang in drag again as Greta in OUT/PLAY’s production of Bent. His extensive training as an opera singer makes him a versatile performer: he has sung onstage with The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Bard Festival Opera, and countless other opportunities for which he has extreme gratitude.
After suffering a concussion in 2021, David worked with Andrew Byrne, author of the best-selling “The Singing Athlete: Brain Based Training for Your Voice” to recover his voice. He has since complete all 3 levels of The Singing Athlete Certifications and numerous brain-training certifications with Z-Health Performance Solutions. David uses this cutting-edge applied neurology to get incredible results with his students in private lessons. He also introduces universities, acting studios, and performance organizations across the country to brain-based voice training with his interactive workshops.
Passionate about making more opportunities for Queer actors, David founded OUT/PLAY, a queer theatre company, which has now focused on bringing new life to under-produced or forgotten queer plays. In their first three seasons, OUT/PLAY provided opportunities for hundreds of actors, directors and playwrights with over 23 productions. In their June “Summer Shorts” Short Play Festival each year, they bring life to dozens of world-premiere plays by up-and-coming NYC playwrights!
Offstage, David’s passions are Fitness and Gardening. He’s a member of Crossfit Unleashed in Astoria, where he loves to hit the gym before starting his day. He spends his summers tinkering in his backyard garden, where he grows everything from herbs and tomatoes to nearly every flower imaginable.
